When traveling with kiddos plan for many stops along the way. We packed snacks and lunch, also extra water. Stopped at a park to have lunch and play. I recommend

a blanket for parks and hotel room for baby to play on. We had to stop on the side of the road a couple times and at each little town we stopped to use the toilet. A grocery store was a great option in one of the towns because Mama was not about to use that nasty composting toilet at the rest stop.

We utilized the amenities at the hotel. They had a yoga room so while Dad lifted weights Mama did yoga and the kids played (and cried). We got take out for dinner and used the hotels dinning area which had a high chair. We used the pool for a swim before bedtime. We bought an old folding crib, cut the bottom down a little so it fit in the trunk and used a pack n play sized thick cushion for a mattress.

We downloaded shows on an iPad for Finn (4 yo) to watch and autobooks for him to listen to on another device so if one battery went out we had a back up.

We used a space booster to hold extra stuff like a compact high chair, Finn’s scooter and it provided extra space in the trunk so we could see out the back window. Chad tied a knot in the tie down straps to reduce flapping at high speeds. We made sure to have toys both kids could play with and share while limiting the amount we had to pack. We will be staying at my sisters for a week so we have extra stuff we normally wouldn’t bring if traveling by air. We are ready for an adventure and to visit the redwoods.
